Client support for refugees with residence status

In the municipality of Krimpenerwaard, OCMO works to strengthen culturally sensitive client support, with a specific focus on refugees with residence status. We do this on behalf of the municipality and in close cooperation with local partner organisations.

Our approach

We respond to the lived experiences and needs of residents with a migration background. In practice, this means that we:

  • identify barriers and challenges in the support process;
  • discuss individual cases with the professionals involved;
  • strengthen cooperation between organisations.

Learning and improving

We use the insights gained from this collaboration to explore together how culturally sensitive working can be further strengthened in local practice. In this way, we build support that is accessible and appropriate for everyone.

Also relevant for other municipalities

Our approach is not unique to Krimpenerwaard. Other municipalities that want to invest in inclusive and culturally sensitive client support can also build on this approach.
